He attended Wharton Jr. College, University of Texas and University of Houston.  Served in U.S. Army for 3 years and married Joyce, his wife for 59 years.  He and Joyce have three children and five grandchildren.  After service he worked for Univac Corporation at NASA in Clear Lake, Texas and went to work for George Mitchell & Associates, which later became Mitchell Energy & Development. After 37 years he retired (kinda).  In 1982, Rodney and his wife began Conroe Florist in Downtown Conroe.  We began getting involved in the City of Conroe, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Conroe the arts and other downtown efforts.  In 1999, we began purchasing buildings in the downtown area.  After retiring in 2000, we decided to sell our home and move to one of our buildings in downtown, becoming the first resident living in downtown Conroe, where we currently live. In 2005 Joyce and I founded "The Corner Pub". The Corner Pub remains in our family today. Rodney has served on the State Texas Downtown Association for several terms and in 2022 was voted Downtowner of the Year.
